Default Diet Aids

I see a lot of advertising and get a lot of questions from my clients about the use of pills to aid in weight loss. I generally try to discourage my clients from going this route, but has anyone here actually used and had success with a diet aid without suffering any negative side effects?

Good question. I've been a writer in the health area for about two years and have come across a lot of negative research about various diet products like Ephedra as well as read that many other products are hoaxes.

I haven't heard a lot of positive results that weren't from direct testimonials on the website selling the products which is quite telling.

Very good point.

I don't think there's any quick fix out there, but of course people will always spend money to save themselves for having to do anything long term about it, like changing their eating habits. I can't believe they think it's a solution. And even if they worked, unless you want to buy them for the rest of your life, the underlying problems of bad diet and lack of exercise have not been resolved and you'll regain it all again. Same situation, just poorer.

I think a serious weight loss diet should have medical supervision. Diet aids are a distraction, what is required is a change of eating habits and regular exercise, there are no safe shortcuts.

That's it... that's why fad diets don't work. No one *will* take the pills for the rest of their life... or if it's a fad like "no carb" they won't stop carbs for the rest of their life and then weight comes back. It needs a change that will stick.

It would sure be nice for some tho if there was a bar that would actually help along the way, it would give a kick start for one and give someone an alternative to the bad carb fixes they usually take. I am looking into a bar called Extend for diabetics. It is supposed to help regulate blood sugars for up to nine hours and I want to find out if there is any bad preservatives in it that would only aggravate a diet plan or should we all get some good diet help with something like this. It is time we start finding or producing foods for the road that are actually healthy with no other junk that is going to cause bad reactions later so that we can get a simple fix when needed, we have busy lives that need a good clean fix when on the road or trying to maintain a healthy food balance. Most I find have something bad in them and that is the problem with todays lifestyles, promises that are lies.
