Default Menopause and Hair Loss

I heard it's very common to lose hair during menopause because of the hormonal change.

Can i prevent this? Maybe change my diet?

You should begin with talking to your doctor. Hormone replacement might prevent hair loss, but there may be other options.

Gosh, I hope not. I have an appointment with my dr. concerning menopause so I will have to see what she says on this one.

I have had just about every symptom that menopause could thrown at me, but, knock wood, hair loss hasn't been one of them!

I did not know that hair loss was a common side effect of menopause. I'm sure there are other options though, in terms of hormones and such that can help prevent hair loss.

Actually I noticed my own hair is getting finer and I'm wondering if that could be why. I'd never heard of that being a side effect of menopause but I'm at the right age to be starting it. Hmm, I need to find out some more on that. Thanks for that snippet!

Hormonal imbalance is the main thing which occurs after menopause. Some symptoms are: insomnia, diminished interest in sex, irritability and depression, tension, fatigue, dizziness, headaches and numbness.

Hair loss symptoms is never heard. Else I don't know but if you are facing this you should consult a doctor.

It doesn't work all the time, but if you're wondering what will happen to you during menopause, ask your mother or grandmothers. Alot of the time you can predict by learning about what your female relatives experienced.

Good point, molly. My aunt and gran went through theirs at a young age, in their mid thirties. My mom hung on until mid forties and her worst symptom was hot flashes. Does anyone know if being weepy is a symptom too? I've been like that recently over the tiniest things.

That is one thing that I never had a problem with. Had no hair loss at all. Had mood swings, and hot flashes, but kept all my hair.

I guess hair loss may be a possibility, you have noticeable hair loss after a pregnancy because the hormone levels prevent the usual hair loss during pregnancy, so I think you could get similar things happening when the hormones fluctuate during the menopause.
