Default Birth Control That You Avoid

What types of birth control do you avoid, and for what reasons?

I have been thinking about the pill, but at the same time, I am very scared of taking something that will alter my hormones so much.

My wife is thinking about getting the permanent birthcontrol that they have out there right now. I'm not sure if this is a good idea. I mean I was never into the birth control thing in the first place but has anyone gone and tried this out?

I can't take the shot because it causes me to get blood clots. I think most of those birth controls do that to my body for some reason.

I would be very wary of using something that I had to remember to use prior to having sex. But that's simply because I'm out of the habit of doing so and would likely forget!

I won't take the shot or use the patch because of all the problems with them. The pill has been around the longest and has been tested the most, so that's what I stick with.

Personally I think the safest thing that you could go with is the pill. All those other forms of birth control cause so many different sie affects which is the worse.

Actually, I avoid them all! We let God plan our family so we don't use any form of birth control. He's done a good job so far.

I used barrier methods for many years between and after my children. I didn't want to take the pill because of issues with my health. In retrospect I wish we had done something permanent much sooner, because there is always that nagging worry that an accident could happen. My husband's vasectomy greatly improved my enjoyment of sex and it removed the element of worry for both of us.

The pill comes in lots of different forms and not all are the same so you'll only be prescribed the strength you need and not anything excessive. It's probably still the best form of contraception you can have if you definitely don't want a child or it would be considered disasterous if you got pregnant right now. Condoms can tear. The pill doesn't take as long to come out of your system as any of the more long term methods either.

The one thing I'd never consider is the coil. I remember my mum telling me years ago that when she'd went to the doctor when she was young and asked about it, he said he wouldn't put it in a dog. The way it works is that it irritates your womb so any fertilised eggs can't adhere to it apparently. That alone would make me want to steer clear of it. If I remember right it can also make your periods worse.

That's another pill plus - your periods usually get lighter and you know exactly when you'll have them!

If this is a conversation that your mum had when she was young that would have been many years ago now & I'm sure all forms of contraception have advanced in the intervening years.

I've had a coil fitted since my eldest son was born. I had it removed when I wanted to fall pregnant again, and reinstalled after.

It has reduced my period pains, (although I'm not sure if I'm a peculiar case!) and the heaviness of the period.

I don't have to worry about it or remember to take it, it's caused me no problems whatsoever and actually improved my health, there are no chemicals in my body and if I wish to become pregnant removing it returns me to fertility immediately.

It's a method I would recommend to anyone at all, although I understand that it's not normally recommended for women who have not yet had a child.

I am afraid of taking birth control pills. As someone told me that these pills are having side effects and create problems during pregnancy.

I've heard of some side effects of being on the pill.

I'm not sure what the technical explanation is, but it can also affect the hormones in ways other than those that prevent pregnancies.
