Default Different birthing methods

What have you tried? What do you want to do? I had a c-sect with my twins but I did VBAC with the next two. I've gone with an epi and without. I prefer to birth naturally and next time I'm going for a home birth.

I haven't had any children yet, but I'm learning strongly toward trying the water birth type setups. I don't have a high pain tolerance when it comes to things down there, so I want to try whatever I can to make it go smoother.

I've read a lot about water births and they've never apealed to me but I do hear they're good for heling with pain. I birthed my dd without drugs and it was very painful. One thing to keep in mind though is that the moment the baby come sout, the pain stops. I didn't know that and I didn't even want to push it hurt so much. Next time, I'll remember, if I just push the pain will end!

I would have liked to have tried a water birth but for some reason never looked into it. Both of my sons were C-sections.

Default Giving Birth in Canada

We live in Australia and I gave birth to my daughter here. We have the opportunity of moving to Canada and as we are thinking of a second child, I am wondering about child birth over there. Our daughter was born by emergency caesarean and I would like to try a vaginal birth. I am wondering about hospitals and obstetricians in the Toronto area which are happy to consider VBAC? Also I am wondering about hospitals where women have had good experiences with a caesarean as there is a chance of another emergency caesarean for me. Any help would be much appreciated.

I had an epidural with my first two births and I was not especially happy with either birth. For the third I used TENS for pain relief and it was a much better experience.

I have 2 children, both of them natural births (no drugs of any kind), in a hospital, on a bed.
This time I have a midwife, and I'm realy hoping my preg. goes as good a s my other 2, so I can have a home water birth.

Just wondering, what is TENS, is it a medication?

I had mine naturally and plan to do it again, it worked out well.

Tens is a method of pain relief. You have a couple of electrode thingys stuck to your back and a little hand held remote control lets you set a small electrical pulse. That prevents the pain messages getting to the brain, but you can still move around and do whatever you want. It works, I used it when my son was born. Do a search you will find lots of information.

My sister had a midwife, at home, w/her second son, a hospital w/her first and the hospital w/her last son. She says she preferred having the baby at home...seemed more natural and comfortable to be in her own surroundings.

Home births are awesome.
My son was born at home without drugs or complication in 6 hours, first baby! with the help of my awesome midwives and doula of course.
My son is now 10 months old and should I have more children home births are what I will have.
Also, I didn't vaccinate, do the research, they've only been around for 300 years and didn't save lives then and don't save lives now; but don't get me off topic!

Well I got what I wanted. We welcome our 8lb. 4oz. healty baby boy with a Home/Water/Hypnobirth, he was born into the hands of his father, while his 2 sisters witness the miracle.
28 hrs. of labor, perfect candidate for drugs to speed up labor, then pain killers and maybe even cesarea, it is well known that "The best way to avoid a cesarea, is to stay out of the hospital".
Homebirth a great way to cope with pain, it made me feel enpowered, I knew Iwas in control and to follow my instints was the wise thing to do.
Hypnobirth was a great way to slow "life" down, breath properly and relax during preg. but really help me with the pain, specially during crowning, at one point I was being coach by midwife to push, but then I realized that it was taking a lot of my energy so I decided so take control again and go back to hypnobirth "basics", when I let it go, he finally crown and then came out without "much" of a push, no stiches necesary and healing "outside-down there" was almost inmediate, and bleeding only lasted 2 weeks (with my DDs was 2 and 3 months!).
Waterbirth did not "vanish" the pain but the "back pain" (in the butt) was almost non existant when I was in the water changing positions, it was also amazing to witness his head already out and turning while finding the best way to position his shoulders, then coming out on his own, not agressibly pushed out or "pulled" out.
