Default Ever had food poisoning?

I have and it was a nasty experience. I'm wondering now what's the best way to treat it in case it happens again. Last time I didn't eat or drink anything for days because I felt so ghastly.

Avoiding food is probably the only way to really get through food poisoning. You don't want to stop any vomiting or diarrhea because that is how the body gets rid of the poisons and you don't want to put more food in because each time you vomit, you lose more fluids than you are taking in.

I had food poisoning one time and it just so happened that it was when I was three months pregnant. I had to make sure that I drank as much clear fluids as I possibly could which was not easy.

I have never had food poisoning. But I heard that it is terrible. It really makes you sick. I hope to never get it, but who knows it could happen any time.

No, I never had any sort of food posioning. But my husband does. His stomach is so sensitive that he has to avoid many food stuffs. This is happening after his stone operation.

I've had food poisoning, yes. One time was plenty and I never want to experience that again! Mine was from baked goods that had been a Christmas gift to us. Yes, the people liked us and it wasn't done on purpose.

Ugh, remembering how horrible it was when I had it, the thought of having had it while I was pregnant is almost too much to think about. That would NOT have been a good time at all!

I had it at least 4 times, 3 from restaurants and one time at a Christmas dinner at a friends house. That was the worst. Painful, blood in the stool, and days of throwing up. I know why too because I was there when she was cooking with the kids all around and I seen the turkey on the counter that morning and later the other stuff touching the counter but I did not give it any thought till the next day when I was a hurting unit. I was the only one who got sick and I could not figure that out till I realized later I was the only one who had a devilled egg because I purposely made sure I had room for one when everyone else had already pigged out on dinner and said "no thanks" when she put them out on the coffee table with other stuff for snacks after dinner was done. I had taken the Food Safe course by then and I should have known better but now I am kind of hard pressed to except a dinner invite at anyone elses house.
I will admit she is a very good cook but now and then you hear about their kids going to hospital ER for a bad stomach upset and I have to wonder. She is the kind who would be very upset if you told her there is a problem so I never ate there anymore,,, nothing but coffee.
The ones from the restaurants were different more like cramps and diahrea for a day or so. Usually I get sick first, must be sensitive or something. I went out once with a friend and the next day we were both sick, her only half as bad but same symptoms. And recently, KFC, no one else again but I woke up at 4 am and up she come. After it happened I was fine except a few cramps till I fell asleep again.

Yes, from some canned beans. I had never had this kind before, and they didn't actually taste bad, just different from what I expected. The result convinced me that I had food poisoning. You really don't want to stop the body from evacuating the bad stuff, so you need to rehydrate as much as possible. Water may be the only thing you can tolerate.

When I was about ten years old, I had a really good case the night after Thanksgiving dinner. For many years I couldn't face turkey of any kind, stuffing, anything related to the dinner, they brought up such horrible memories.

I've never had food poisoning myself, my mother in law has. I'm sure there's a lot of ways to treat it but one thing that worked very well for her is probiotics, food poisoning is usually cause by ingestion food contaminated wth "bad" bacteria (spoil food, cross contamination, prepare with low hygene, etc.) probiotics are "friendly" bacteria that are natural to the body (and an important part of the inmune system), the way people eat gives a good biting to these natural fighters on daily basis, even antibiotics (and most pharmaceuticas) sugar, wheat, alcohol, etc. either killls them or help the "bad" bacteria reproduce faster and take control.
I remember once, my mother in law had a worst case of food poisoning than the last one, she call us and we drop off coloidal silver, she took it during the day in case it was a virus causing it, and then she loaded on probiotics for the next few days.
We (husband, kids, and I) take probiotics regularly, the sad part is that they have been so comercialized that there's a lot of crappy brands/strains out there, specialy the ones that are added to store bought yogurt.

As far as I am aware I've never had food poisoning, but a friend told me recently that to some degree or another we've probably just about all encountered it at one time or another. He said it can be very mild and simply seem like a minor gastric unpleasantness. Is this true?

I've never been diagnosed with food poisoning. If I've had it, it was a mild case and I got over it myself.

But I've heard from my coworkers that it can be very serious if it isn't checked and progresses.

I had food poisoning once.

I didn't really do anything to treat it because I was too sick to move.
