Default How long?

Okay, I'm getting mixed answers. Some say it can take between 3 and 4 months before it shows up on a test and others are telling me that it can take a full 6 months. Which is it?

My brother died from this disease. It seems like he was sick for quite awhile before it became life-threatening. In the beginning, it was simply a loss of appetite and a rapid weight loss, but he seemed like himself, only thinner. It was a gradual decrease in his health, but then it changed and things moved along rapidly.

I had read not to long ago that it was up to 3 months for a positive result to show up. So after initial test you should go back for a retest in 3 months. To the poster above I am sorry to hear about the loss of your brother due to AIDS.
