Default Rash from Bra

Hi there,

I've been experiencing a itchy rash just under my breasts and couldn't figure out why... until tonight. I just saw an ABC news story on the Yahoo home page about Victoria Secret bras. They have been causing rashes for so many women that there's now a class action law suit against Victoria Secret. The Med Help Forum (U.S.) has loads of women on it complaining about horrible rashes that appear to be connected to bras purchased at Victoria Secret. At least two Canadians on the forum have also had rashes that appear to be related to bras purchased at La Senza. La Senza is owned by Limited Brands, the same company that owns Victoria Secret. It seems the bras causing the problems are all made in China. I checked my bras and the bras causing problems are made in China. I'm posting this to see if there's anyone else out there who has been experiencing this problem.

Interesting because I got an email a while back showing that bras from China and other countries are being treated with pestisides so they don't get bugs on them while on the ships and people are getting rashes from not washing them first or not well enough to get all of the pestisides out. I also got a different email about some bras that were not treated and women found they had bugs nesting in the skin of their brests because they chose not to wash the bras before wearing and should have washed them in very hot water first.
I have been lucky because a few years ago my favorite bra came on sale and I bought lots of them because I knew they would last me a long time that way by rotating their use so I have not bought any since all of this stuff started with china's dirty ingredients and materials.
Not sure if you will remember the event with the flip flops from china that were leaving burns on peoples feet. They were supposedly being sold by Wal Mart for about 4 bucks a pair and because I don't wear flip flops I seemed to have avoided that too, just luck I guess. I am not possitive that this one was true but When will the material and food problems stop?
I think it is time we start buying Canadian and say the heck with the cheap pricings. Maybe if we all did that our prices could come down eventually because of bulker manufacturing forcastings being visible. I hate seeing our jobs go across the water and I do try to buy Canadian when I can but I know the cost of living for many is what is preventing us from going at this like we would like to and untill the government helps us by placing laws on materials and ingredients we will just keep finding crap for dirt cheap that hurts us.
I see the states has made it law or is going to, that food products have lables to show where ingredients come from which is a start.

I have experienced rashes from bras in the last couple of years but they were not the makes you mentioned, I don't know where they were made because I have not kept them.

They are not that easy to find and cost a bit more, but I love my organic cotton bras.

I just saw something on a show called 16 by 9 (I think that's what it is called) about clothes (incl bras) which contain formaldehyde and cause problems for some people. The last bras I bought at LaSenza gave me a severe itchy rash only where the bra touched my skin... I thought maybe it was from the dye...I've never had a reaction like that in all my life. I'm going to make a stink with LaSenza and get my money back... whether it's the dye or formaldehyde they should watch what they sell!

Good luck with getting a response from La Senza. I've sent them an email twice and never heard a word back from them. Lousy bras and lousy customer service.

Thanks for the tip! Now that I've had no response from La Senza regarding a refund for all the bras I bought, I'm signing up for the class action suit.

Default laSenza

I emailed LaSenza from their website regarding my complaint and concern and they replied to my email within 24 hours. They stated that their product do not have formaldehyde but that I could return them (with a receipt) for a refund. Well, I don't have the receipt so I've emailed them back again but haven't heard back.

Looks like AlanaMarie needs to check the class action. It doesn't apply to me because my bras weren't Itec (I don't think anyway.) They were the Classic style that have now been discontinued. I'm still waiting for LaSenza's reply to my query about getting my money back without the bill. I say stay away from LaSenza bras!

I typed "allergic freaction to bras" into google and was surprised at what I found . . . I had no idea that this was such a common problem! I thought I was the only one! I recently bought an ITEC bra from La Senza and soon after wearing it I devlopped red, extremely itchy hive-like bumps on both breasts that have still not gone away. I've bought ITEC bras before (more than a year ago) and never had a problem. It is such and embarrassing problem . . . I've had to go to the bathroom at work to scratch because I just couldn't stand it anymore!
I've tried OTC hydrocortisone cream and allergy medication and it doesn't work . . . what works to relieve the itchiness?

I haven't had a problem with my La Senza bras but they're older. The last time I bought a bra there was at least two years ago. I bought a bunch 'cause I loved the style and haven't needed to go back since. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, given how many other "made in China" items have been re-called due to dangers to due public.

This will definitely make me more careful when it comes time to shopping for my next bra - or any item of clothing.

sbethy - if the rash is still bothering you, perhaps your doctor could help? Maybe antihistamines? I've used cortisone cream for bug itchiness but if that's not working, you might need something stronger.

Default itch rash

I too have had a problem with a rash that started under my bra after buying bras from La Senza .. I didn't put the 2 together until a friend told me about the law suit story ... my rash started red spots, itchy and then spread to my arms, arm pits, top of my leg and lower legs and was extremely itchy, burning and highly irritating .. i seen 3 doctors and not one of them knew what it was and had 3 different creams prescribed and they seemed to slightly help and now waiting to see dermatologist to see whats the cause even though I have stemmed it to my bra purchase now .. have been suffering with this since NOV 2009 and it all bad rashes are clearing up but still have some bad itchy spots ...what i did to help ease the itch was lots of baths with baking soda and Aveeno itch relief cream.... I did contact La Senza and they offered me a refund for the bras i bought but I am waiting to see what the dermatologist says .. will keep posted.

I'm so glad I've found other people with this problem. I only have La Senza bras, and have never had a problem until I wore an Itec bra I bought recently. I've found that baby powder helps relieve the itching somewhat. I also bought diaper rash cream (I chose Penaten, but I'm pretty sure anything with Zinc Oxide will do) to put on the rash. It's working pretty well, although it's messy. I had no idea about the law suit. That is interesting.

Default Breast rash solution

Hi Ladies,

Breast rashes are very common but seldom discussed. I'm a large chested woman who suffered from rashes, chafing, you name it. There are products out there, but if you're looking to avoid messy creams or smelly medicines you can try an all natural moisture absorbtion product called Swoobies. You can get them online at swoobies.com.
