Default Acupressure & Acupuncture

Is acupressure as effective as acupuncture? I've been tempted to try acupuncture to aid relaxation, but my fear of needles (though groundless in the case of acupuncture, I know) may make me so stressed that I would need a second treatment to counteract that stress!

acupressure is even more effective than acupuncture in some cases. I am registered acupuncturist in BC and new immigrant from China. In China, acupressure is a kind of massage used for both relaxation and cure purpose. as a matter of fact, TCM, including acupuncture is widely applied in medical practice and can be used for so many diseases and troubles. They are natural and effective ways. TCM is a subject that has thousands of years clinical experience. You have to find a real TCM practitioner or ACUPUNCTURIST who was trained in China. You will have different experience.

I have never used any of these. But I know people that have and they say they work pretty good. I really don't know what one is better then the other. I am sure it depends on what is bothering you.

Default They are both beneficial

Both techniques are beneficial and actually I have found they compliment each other. Also accupressure followed with a visit with your chiropractor is another good way to go.

I have been doing both accupressure and chiropractic this year, having done accupunture last year and have gotten off all pain killers. It has been such a blessing. I found a place in Saskatoon that does both in the same building and the Chiro uses these new types of beds that really make the whole experience a lot less painful. When I first started going my adrenal glands were way out of balance. Due to ongoing stress in my life. I wasn't sleeping, I was tired all the time, low energy and pain randomly attacking my body constantly. I did about six or seven accupressure treatments and about 10 or so Chiro and over a period of about 3 or 4 months it was an amazing journey and a real eye opener for me. I became a real believer through this process. I have more energy, sleeping better and even my depression has lessoned.

Accupressure helped me when I had sinusitis. Pressure in the right places seemed to clear my breathing.

Both acupressure and acupuncture are very effective forms of treatment. Since they are based on the same system of energy channels (meridians), the only real difference is the use of a needle in acupressure and the use of finger pressure in acupressure.

If you would like to learn how to use acupressure to help relax, read this article on Acupressure for Anxiety. While you may not suffer from anxiety, the points described in the article are useful in helping you unwind.

You should reconsider trying acupuncture as the therapy is usually stronger and more effective than acupressure. I personally perform both, and many patients are surprised to find that my finger is actually more painful than the needle.

I had acupressure treatments for back pain and very tight muscles and found it very helpful. I have had great success relieving nerve pain with acupuncture too and I was wondering has anyone else experienced a good result from acupuncture treatments? I especially like the relaxing result when my practitioner heats the needles sending stimulating heat down the needle and into the points where they are inserted into my muscles. Anyone else?
Cheers

I have had acupuncture for a severe neck condition I was very sceptical especially as I'd had a bad experience with acupuncture before but it worked well. It was don by a properly trained medical doctor who had an additional qualification in acupuncture. I think people should be very cautious about who they see.

You are quite right people should be very cautious about who they put their trust in for this sort of treatment.
